For School Districts
Bring trades to your students on their turf.
School to Site is a hands-on introduction to four in-demand trades, delivered right inside your district. No travel required for students. No disruption to your schedule.
How it works
Three steps from classroom to career.
School to Site
Students attend a 3–4 hour hands-on showcase at their school. They rotate through 12–14 stations guided by trade professionals, getting a real feel for Concrete finishers, Drywall Installers and Finishers, Floorcovering Installer, Framer-Carpenter.
2-Week training
Interested students apply for a 32-hour training course covering all four trades, job site safety, workers rights, and three certifications; Construction Safety, Fall Protection, and WHMIS.
Linked to an employer
Graduates are connected to a local employer in their chosen trade. They receive ongoing job coaching, hands-on mentorship from their employer, and full onsite training with Trades Ready support for up to a year.
What is School to Site
A 3–4 hour trade experience, delivered in your community.
School to Site is a showcase of four specific trades Concrete Finishers, Drywall Installers and Finishers, Floorcovering Installer, Framer-Carpenter. Students move through 12 to 14 stations where they can safely learn how to use hand and power tools, including drills, guided by professionals in the field.
Students come through in groups of 20 to 30 over a 3 to 4 hour period, with an average stay time of 30 to 45 minutes. An information booth is also on site to share details about the longer-term training opportunity available after the showcase.
We're looking for students who are 17 years and older and may have an interest in the trades, or who are still figuring out what they want to do after high school.
What we ask from the district
Two simple things to make it happen.
A space to set up
A gym, multipurpose room, or outdoor space works well. A covered outdoor area is preferred given unpredictable weather. Then we bring everything else.
Promote to interested students
Help us reach students who are 17 years and older and may be interested in exploring a career in the trades.
After the showcase
A 2-week training course, 32 hours total.
After the School-to-Site showcase, interested students will have an opportunity to apply to participate in a more intensive 2-week training course. The training includes:
- Introduction to the four trades; Concrete Finishers, Drywall Installers and Finishers, Floorcovering Installer and Framer-Carpenter
- Safety on the job site
- Three certifications Construction Safety, Fall Protection, and WHMIS
- Workers Rights and Responsibilities
After completing the two-week training module, youth will be connected to an employer. While employed, they will receive:
Job Coaching
A dedicated job coach stays in contact with both the youth and the employer throughout the placement to support a smooth transition.
Employer Mentorship
Youth are matched with an employer who provides hands-on mentorship and guidance as they grow in their chosen trade.
Onsite Trade Training
All training takes place on the job site, no classroom, no travel. Youth learn the trade the right way, from experienced professionals in your community.
How we work with your district
Certified teachers. Local employers. Real support.
Certified teachers throughout
Certified teachers are involved in all School to Site activities and throughout the two-week training that follows so students are always in qualified hands.
Training close to home
The two-week training is scheduled based on availability, but our goal is always to offer it as close to where students go to school as possible.
Employers from your community
Employers are sourced from the same communities students live in. We understand accessibility matters, that's why we also provide transportation to training and work sites.
Diploma supports included
For students who haven't yet graduated, tutoring supports are built into the program so we can work alongside your district to help them complete their high school diploma.
